Bio

How long have you worked at UCSB?
Since August 1, 2019

Tell us a little more about you.
I'm a native Carpinterian. The youngest of 7 from a mixed family and am fortunate enough to be Spanish/English bilingual and literate. I DIY major projects for fun and enjoy cooking or baking something worthy of the clean plate club.

GMC & Me:
I am incredibly blessed that the Employee Engagement Specialist position was created for our campus. This new position has truly given me the opportunity to create new protocols and programs from the ground up. My job here is more than just a job, it's a laser-focused lens looking at the employee experience. Being a part of the GMC community and serving in an advisory capacity is one of the perks of my work on campus. What could be better than that?

What next (goals and aspirations)?
I'm neck-deep in revamping our existing New Employee Orientation and creating a First Year Experience program that will work in harmony with the NEO. After that, I'm off to survey the need for a New Manager Orientation program. My ultimate goal is that our Engagement work on campus can transcend and translate to systems that can easily be shared UC-wide. In the meantime, I'm continuing to work to get to know anyone and everyone who is invested in the engagement of our employees; want to meet for coffee?

What special hobbies do you have?
Not a hobby, but a love of people. I am very invested in the human experience and asking what brings people joy. There is something very special about hearing someone talk about their number one passion; it lights them up from the inside out. It's a most personal and beautiful experience people can share with one another. When I'm not engaging other humans, though, you can find me basking in the sun from my hammock or taking artsy pictures of my 6 furbabies.

What is your claim to fame (something about you that not many people know about)?
I sold all my earthly belongings and became a full-time RV'er in a matter of 6 weeks! I travel with 5 cats, 1 dog and my partner in my 40' Class A!

Spirit animal, anyone?
I'm a Tiger...I took a test (https://www.spiritanimal.info/spirit-animal-quiz/) and you can too! The tiger puts a special emphasis on raw feelings and emotions. The tiger spirit animal symbolizes primal instincts, fluidity, and ability to trust oneself. By affinity with this spirit animal, I enjoy dealing with life matters spontaneously, trusting my own intuition and acting fast when needed.
